The second edition of CLUB COMEDY on Friday 27th June at Fairfield Social, Club Comedy MCR and Josh Jones are bringing a brand new monthly comedy night to the heart of Manchester. Expect an evening of loud stand-up, belly laughs and big names under one roof at Fairfield Social Club
You might know host Josh Jones from national TV, lighting up shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Jonathan Ross' Comedy Club, Late Night Mash and most recently starring on Dancing On Ice. Now he’s back where it all began, bringing some of the UK's best new acts for a full comedy showdown!
With a bill packed with the best in British stand-up talent, big laughs and even bigger community spirit, all on the stage of Manchester’s best alternative events space, Fairfield Social Club. The opening night reflects a mix of favourites and rising stars, with FSC’s authentic atmosphere welcoming first-timers and comedy die-hards alike as big names take centre stage.
The big night out lineup is set to feature top talent from all over the UK, including:
HEADLINER Christopher Macarthur-Boyd - Born and bred in Glasgow, Christopher Macarthur-Boyd is a rising star of Scottish stand-up. Christopher co-starred in two series of BBC Scotland’s Up For It. OtherTV credits include hosting BBC Scotland’s The Comedy Underground. Christopher has also made appearances on BBC Scotland’s Breaking The News, BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Stands Up At The Fringe. and BBC Radio 4’s Fred at The Stand, as well as the podcast Evil Genius with Russell Kane. In 2022 Christopher starred in Comedy Central’s new stand-up series Comedy Central Live. Christopher has also worked across Frankie Boyle’s New World Order on BBC Two. Christopher also co-hosts the comedy podcast Enjoy An Album counting down the top 500 Albums of all time according to Rolling Stone Magazine.
Dom McGovern - Dom McGovern is an energetic, fast-paced comedian whose standup covers sexuality, politics, religion, and pop culture. His career kicked off in Australia, where he was a finalist in the prestigious RAW Comedy competition, joining the ranks of Hannah Gadsby and Ronnie Chieng.
Alex Stringer - With her uproariously witty content and masterful deadpan execution, Alex Stringer has crowds roaring in laughter. As a true luminary on the comedy scene, she’s swiftly ascending the ranks and cementing her path as a rising star. Her quick rise in the industry is a testament to her immense potential, making her a standout talent to watch out for.
Lulu Simons - Lulu Simons brings her cutting wit and waggish charm to chatting about the things that matter - like the Spice Girls, and your dad’s holiday pics. Her latest show, “Council Estate Gap Year”, debuted as a sell-out performance at the Women in Comedy Festival in Manchester; earning outstanding reviews. Canal Street Online: “Lulu reminded us of Victoria Wood in her observational comedy and great comic timing”. She’s a daft, exciting and ambitious talent.
